Blossom Pediatrics is a growing pediatric therapy agency dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families through high-quality developmental, therapeutic, and family-centered services. We are excited to expand our services by launching our Adaptive Skills Training Program, designed to help clients build functional independence in daily life.

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and reliable Adaptive Skills Specialist to provide direct Adaptive Skills Training services to clients in the home, clinic, school, or community setting. The Adaptive Skills Specialist will support clients in developing practical daily living, communication, social, safety, self-care, and community participation skills.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with children, teens, and/or young adults and is passionate about helping individuals increase independence and confidence in everyday routines.

What Adaptive Skills Training Focuses On

Adaptive Skills Training may support clients with:

  • Communication of wants, needs, and preferences
  • Following routines and directions
  • Feeding and mealtime participation
  • Dressing and hygiene routines
  • Toileting readiness and independence
  • Safety awareness
  • Emotional regulation and coping skills
  • Social interaction and play skills
  • Community participation
  • Self-advocacy and independence
  • Daily living skills at home, school, clinic, or community settings

Job Responsibilities

The Adaptive Skills Specialist will:

  • Provide direct adaptive skills intervention based on the client’s goals and service plan
  • Support clients in learning functional daily living skills
  • Use modeling, prompting, visuals, repetition, structured routines, and caregiver coaching strategies
  • Help clients practice skills across natural routines and environments
  • Support caregiver participation and carryover of strategies
  • Collect session data and complete visit notes on time
  • Communicate client progress, concerns, cancellations, or safety issues to the supervisor
  • Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings
  • Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance
  • Follow Blossom Pediatrics policies and funding source requirements

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Psychology, Education, Special Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, or individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Experience with Regional Center clients, autism, developmental delays, intellectual disability, or adaptive behavior support is a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish/Hebrew/Armenian preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within assigned service area
  • Ability to work independently while following supervision and clinical guidance

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience supporting children, teens, adults, or individuals with developmental needs preferred
  • Must pass background check and meet agency/funding source requirements
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance

Schedule

Sessions may vary based on client authorization and need. Adaptive Skills Training sessions may be scheduled for 1 to 3 hours, depending on the client’s goals, funding authorization, and service plan.

Availability in the afternoon, after school hours, or weekends is a plus.

Pay: $28.57 - $32.79 per hour
