QUALIFICATIONS
A valid Illinois teaching license with required endorsements, registered in DuPage County
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials
- Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library acquires.
- Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials, and instructs teachers and students on use of the system.
- Arranges for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use to teachers.
- Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources.
- Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities.
- Helps students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of reference materials in relation to planned assignments.
- Presents and discusses materials with a class studying a particular topic, on the invitation of the teacher.
- Counsels with and gives reading guidance to students who have special reading problems or unusual intellectual interests.
- Arranges frequently changing book-related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library’s patrons.
- Collaborate with educators and leaders around school improvement processes.
- Design authentic and engaging lessons which incorporate traditional and digital literacy skills with an emphasis on the district reading curriculum.
- Partner with classroom teachers to support them in implementation of the district reading curriculum.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to reach. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk and occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month year. Salary to be established by the Board. Criminal background check required for hire, employment contingent on appropriate results.
