POSTED ON 6/19/2026

Bloomberg Government is seeking a legislative analyst who can digest federal bills and policy issues quickly, write about them clearly and concisely, and speak about them authoritatively. We’re looking for a detail-oriented writer who can comb through legislation and research covering multiple subject areas to turn complex ideas into easy-to-read content, including bill analysis, explainers of major legislation, slide decks, videos and other content for the newsroom’s social media channels, and more. You’ll also appear on webinars and speak to audiences of policy professionals. Government officials and government affairs professionals will use your analysis as they write laws and influence congressional and administration action.

What you will do:

  • Research, interpret, and analyze complex topics and issues that impact our customer base.
  • Screen cases, legislation, regulations, and other developments in order to edit, update, and create new legal or tax content.
  • Develop sufficient subject matter knowledge in relevant fields to prioritize work, identify developments, and contextualize developments within assigned content.
  • Collaborate with other analysts and commercial teams to deliver technology-enhanced content, tools, and workflows for customers.
  • Engage in thought leadership through participation in customer conversations, industry conferences and events, webinars, and social media.
  • Stay abreast of emerging issues and technology and their implications for our customers and/or the way you work.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Specialized education, such as a J.D. or graduate degree, preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience as an attorney, tax professional, accountant, analyst, editor, reporter, or consultant.

  • Ability to understand and contextualize complex details to publish readable, concise, and insightful analytical content.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize, set priorities, and advance multiple projects simultaneously.
