Bloom Consulting, a veteran-owned small business dedicated to empowering the U.S. Navy through digital transformation and mission resiliency, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Wireless Network Engineer to serve as a Senior Flank Speed Wireless (FSW) Engineer supporting Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Mission Systems. This position plays a pivotal role in sustaining and optimizing a newly deployed Navy enterprise transport network—a mission-critical environment that ensures 24/7/365 availability and operational reliability across the Naval Enterprise. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Engineering, develop and integrate advanced wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, 5G, pLEO (private Low Earth Orbit), and emerging mobility platforms into enterprise network architectures.
· Transition NMCI Wireless, Flank Speed Edge (FSE) Wireless and Guest Wireless to Flank Speed Wireless (FSW) formerly known as Sailor Edge Afloat & Ashore (SEA2).
· Develop technical documentation, including network design diagrams, configuration standards, and test plans for enterprise wireless deployments.
· Provide Tier 4 Operations and Sustainment support to rapidly identify, triage, and resolve network or system outages.
· Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, including Network Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Integration, to ensure seamless end-to-end service delivery.
· Perform ongoing system maintenance, configuration corrections, hardware/software updates, and version control.
· Administer and maintain privileged access management solutions to safeguard critical assets.
· Continuously validate failover and disaster recovery procedures to ensure mission resiliency.
· Manage hardware and software lifecycle processes, including upgrades, patching, and deployment of new builds.
· Maintain asset and configuration management systems, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability.
· Support change and problem management processes in compliance with Navy standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
· At least four (4) years of experience supporting large-scale enterprise network or systems environments.
· Experience with HPE Aruba Wireless Access Points, HPE Mobility Conductor/Controller, Arista Wireless Access Points, Arista CloudVision Cognitive Unified Edge (CV-CUE), Cisco Wireless.
· Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, BASH, PowerShell, or similar tools.
· Experience with Ansible (Tower), Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Jenkins, or containerized environments.
· Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances.
· Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and subnetting principles.
· IAT Level II Certification required (Security CE and OS certification).
· Ability to work rotating on-call shifts and provide 24x7 support coverage.
· Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
· Clearance Required: TS/SCI
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience supporting enterprise transport or tactical Navy networks.
· Certifications such as CompTIA Linux , Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
· Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
· Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and mission-focused service delivery.
LOCATION & TRAVEL
Primary Work Location: Hybrid: 2 days a week onsite at Washington Navy Yard (U.S. Navy Customer Facility)
