Blood Assurance is seeking an experienced and motivated full time SBB Program Director to lead and advance our Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) training program at our Headquarters located in Chattanooga, TN. This role provides academic, clinical, and administrative oversight of the program while ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
In addition to program leadership responsibilities, this role includes active clinical job duties within the Blood Assurance Reference Laboratory and a strong focus on advancing training and career ladder opportunities for laboratory staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing future leaders in transfusion medicine while supporting operational excellence and workforce development.

Qualified SBB Program Director candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or SBB certification.
- ASCP certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in blood banking / transfusion medicine, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in education, training, mentorship, or program coordination.
- Strong knowledge of immunohematology, reference laboratory operations, quality systems, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Supervisor License preferred.
- Prior experience as an SBB program director, assistant director, or instructor, preferred.
- Experience administering or supporting a NAACLS-accredited program, preferred.
- Background working within a regional blood center or reference laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to staff development and career advancement.
