Job Summary
The Mechanic will maintain equipment and facilities with emphasis on mobile mining equipment.
Essential Functions
Meet physical demands of job according to the physical demands analysis
Troubleshoot heavy mining equipment
Read, interpret and apply manuals and schematics information to job
Maintain safe work record, be proactive in safety habits and behaviors
Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
Assist in work/tasks planning and organizing
Utilize team skills/tools and participate in focus groups, team’s meetings, AIP’s
Communicate with on-shift coordinator and operations personnel
Follow all mine safety requirements and best practices
Work 12 hour rotating shift
Attend all team meetings
Regular and predictable attendance
Other job assignments as requested
Comply with Company drug and alcohol policy

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Minimum of one (1) year mechanical experience in a coal mining or heavy industrial setting
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability to make decisions
- Ability to perform quality work
- Ability to perform maintenance on mobile equipment
- Self-directed and motivated, must handle change constructively
- Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and qualifications in mechanical maintenance
- Ability and commitment to work safely
- Minimum of three (3) years mechanical experience in a coal mining or heavy industrial setting
- Certificate or degree in diesel or industrial mechanics
