Role Description
As an Energy Compliance Reviewer 1 with Blink Energy Services, you will support our design review team by conducting residential and commercial energy compliance reviews, preparing review comments, and helping coordinate communication with clients regarding plan review findings.
This role is being created to expand the capacity of our design department, improve responsiveness to clients, and support Blink’s continued growth. The right candidate will be able to review construction documents for energy compliance, identify deficiencies, prepare clear written comments, and help keep projects moving on schedule.
This position is primarily focused on basic energy code compliance review. You will begin with residential and small commercial projects and, as your proficiency grows, expand into a wider range of project types and review responsibilities.
This is not a managerial role. You will work under the direction of the Design Department Manager, but you will be expected to manage your time well, complete assigned tasks on deadline, and communicate clearly with both internal team members and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist project managers by completing forms, tracking deliverables, and following up on outstanding items via email and phone.
- Review residential and commercial construction documents for energy code compliance
- Complete and review COMcheck and REScheck documentation
- Identify deficiencies related to insulation values, fresh air strategies, lighting controls, and other code-driven design items
- Mark up plans with review comments and code-related notes
- Prepare written review comment packages for clients
- Send summary emails communicating review findings and outstanding items
- Maintain internal checklists, notes, and documentation related to each review
- Record time and project notes accurately in Blink’s project management software
- Coordinate with clients regarding plan review comments and needed corrections
- Help track review deadlines and support timely return of comments to customers
- Expand into broader commercial and multifamily review work as training and proficiency develop
Qualifications
Job is remote, but must be located in Dallas-Fort Worth Area.
Candidates should meet at least one of the following minimum qualifications:
- Degree in Architecture
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Residential IECC certification
In addition, strong candidates will have:
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Basic understanding of insulation values and envelope-related requirements
- Basic understanding of fresh air or ventilation strategies
- Basic understanding of lighting, HVAC, and building control methods
- Strong communication skills with good email etiquette and professional follow-up habits
- Ability to stay on task and meet deadlines in a remote work environment
- Willingness to learn Blink’s internal review standards and communication expectations
