Collect and process patient samples and perform clinical laboratory analysis at all complexity levels for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Provide services to one or more age populations, including neonate through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
Requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Health System. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals, and direction of the Performance Improvement Process / Patient Safety Plan at Blessing Health System.
Performs quality collection and processing of patient specimens according to established
standards, practices, and procedures. Maintains accuracy in all aspects of laboratory testing in all levels of complexity. Reports results within established time frames and follows documentation requirements. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform a variety of laboratory analyses at all levels of complexity in one or more of these clinical Specialties: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Special Chemistry. Assists with the orientation of new employees and work with students in the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing & Health Sciences accredited MLT program.
Assists with the functional operation of the clinical lab. Performs other tasks delegated by the Medical Director in accordance with CLIA recommendations.
Position requires availability to work all shifts in order to meet needs of the department.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in one of the major sciences, (Chemical, Physical, Biological or Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology), or transcripts demonstrating equivalent hours at an accredited institution(s) in these fields deemed equivalent by College of American Pathologists (CAP).
And
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or International Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP or equivalent (AMT, AAB, ASCP(i) or CSMLS).
