Job Description
Laboratory Tech I
Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Laboratory Tech I is responsible for supporting operations activities as a part of the Blessed Extracts team working directly with cannabis flower packing and wasting socks, assisting with dump runs, sanitizing glassware, and assisting the lab team. This role works closely with the lab team to ensure a clean, efficient, and compliant work environment. Success in this position requires flexibility, focus, and strong attention to detail.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Follow SOPs and verbal instructions accurately and promptly
2. Quality check and prepare freshly frozen or cured flower/ trim for sock packing
3. Maintain effective communication with co-workers and management
4. Fill, label, and weigh socks in preparation for extraction per internal SOPs and by using
metric and imperial measures and balance scales
5. All sock functions: packing, cleaning, and waste dumping. Document each process by
tracking weight.
6. Weigh and process waste material in accordance with city and state regulations, as well
as company policies and procedures
7. Effectively manage time to avoid backtracking and delay in task completion
8. Work independently and productively while still keeping open communication with others
9. Maintain regular attendance and timeliness
10. Keep the work area safe, tidy, clean, and sanitary throughout daily operations,
consistently following SOPs
11. Assist in the loading, unloading, and inventory of cannabis packaging, supplies, and
materials
12. Perform other duties as assigned or otherwise identified
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Cannabis industry experience is a plus, but not required
- Work experience in a kitchen or other detail-oriented environment is a plus
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Able to follow directions, detailed instructions, SOPs, and guidelines, as well as receive
feedback from managers in order to maintain quality standards and production goals
- Must be safety-oriented, quality-focused, with great attention to detail
- Punctual, adaptable, reliable, and honest
- Willing to work shift hours, including weekends and holidays
- State regulations require all applicants must be 21 years of age or older
Working Conditions
The inventory and packaging rooms are kept at 55 - 80° F, respectively, to ensure products are kept at the optimal temperature to maintain our quality promise to our customers. Fresh frozen biomass is stored in a freezer container at -30° C/ -22° F to ensure the biomass is kept at the optimal temperature to maintain our quality promise to our customers. You will be exposed to these temperatures when accessing fresh frozen biomass (with insulated gloves) in preparation for packing socks.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
While working in this environment, employees will be exposed to cannabis, cannabis
concentrates, cannabis products, and terpenes, and may also be exposed to the following:
- extreme temperatures (as low as -22° F)
- dust and fine particulate
- high-pressure systems, including inert and volatile gases
Interaction/Supervision:
The Laboratory Tech I will be supervised by the Laboratory Operations Lead, and will interact with Managers and staff members. This position does not include any direct supervisory role.
Physical Requirements
If required to wear a respirator as part of lab processes, must be able to achieve a proper seal between the face and the respirator.

Hours of Work
This position will work the hours necessary to meet the needs of the business and to complete necessary job duties. This may include work during days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The employee will be required to take all meal and rest breaks in accordance with company policy, see Employee Handbook. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. The employee shall record their work hours and shall be paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws.
