As an onsite Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will make a tangible difference in the lives of young learners by providing specialized instruction and fostering independence. This position offers a focused caseload—about 8 students—allowing you to tailor your approach to individual needs and create lasting connections.
Position Details:
- Academic year: August 26, 2026 – June 16, 2027
- Part-time: 15 hours per week, onsite only
- Caseload: Approx. 8 students, with service-minute requirements equaling 15 hours/week
- Setting: Support within a collaborative school environment
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification required
- Must complete fingerprinting through OSPI prior to start date
- Experience providing direct instruction and support to students who are visually impaired in a K-12 school setting
- Comfortable adapting curricula, developing accessible materials, and working with IEP teams
- Strong commitment to student advocacy and inclusive practices
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct services in accordance with student IEPs, including skill development in Braille, adaptive technology, and orientation & mobility collaboration
- Assess individual student needs and progress, revising intervention strategies as necessary
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, related service providers, and school teams
- Document services and maintain accurate records to support student progress and compliance
