Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with relevant interpreting experience in educational settings
- Familiarity with assistive technology such as Cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD devices
- Experience supporting students with diverse communication needs, especially those transitioning from specialized educational programs
- Ability to navigate behaviorally supportive environments with professionalism and empathy
- Valid licensure or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or Language Facilitator in the state
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with fellow interpreters and school staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation for one 9th grade student during classroom instruction (excluding non-instructional times such as lunch, arrival, and dismissal)
- Collaborate with a team, specifically covering Fridays and providing substitute coverage if the primary facilitator is absent
- Support the student’s academic engagement, ensuring clear communication and access to curriculum
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment as the student adjusts to mainstream classroom routines after return from a residential program
