Job description
The Sheet Metal Estimator creates pricing estimates for HVAC sheet metal work on construction projects. You'll work with our Mechanical Piping and Plumbing Estimators to provide complete project pricing for Blauch Brothers' construction team. In this role, you'll collaborate with the BBI Service Department, Operations team, General Contractors, designers, engineers, outside vendors, and project owners. You'll review project drawings and specifications to develop accurate pricing estimates. Your role is crucial in maintaining a steady flow of profitable construction projects for the team. Additional tasks will be assigned by the Pre-Construction Manager as needed. This is not a supervisory position.

Work Schedule
Estimating & Pricing:
- Submit estimates by required deadlines
- Review and process quotes from vendors and subcontractors
- Create accurate project estimates based on drawings and specifications
- Help price change orders when needed
- Assess safety requirements and include them in pricing
- Assist with pricing for Sheet Metal, Small Projects, and Service Department as needed
Customer & Project Management:
- Meet with customers to understand their needs and present quotes
- Follow up on all estimates through email, phone, and text
- Attend site visits to improve future bid accuracy
- Participate in project turnover meetings with the Operations Manager and Project Team
- Conduct annual customer evaluations to ensure they align with BBI's ideal customer profile
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work with Construction and Service teams to identify new opportunities
- Coordinate with Small Projects team to ensure proper account service
- Collaborate with Service Department to create revenue opportunities from construction clients
- Work with Pre-Construction Manager to determine which projects to pursue
- Partner with Project Managers to identify improvements and track customer satisfaction
Meetings & Professional Development:
- Attend project updates, estimating meetings, and bid day activities
- Participate in networking and promotional events
- Attend owner trainings for construction projects
- Participate in The Unified Group and peer group training events
- Attend annual performance reviews
Process Improvement:
- Help improve estimating workflow and procedures
- Identify cost-effective procedures
- Stay current on industry trends and recommend improvements
- Work with the Estimating Team to set business goals and complete strategic initiatives

- Ability to perform basic tasks in an office environment, including sitting for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching
- Good visual acuity for reading instructions, labels, drawings, contracts
- Ability to hear and understand speech in person and over the telephone
