Job Description - Pre-Fabrication Shop Foreman
Purpose and Scope:
The Pipe Pre-Fab Shop Foreman fulfills an important role in the success of the company. They provide hands on leadership to the shop crew and improves field efficiency and quality by producing pre-fabricated material. The goal of this position is to reduce field install hours by pre-fabricating the material in a more safe and efficient environment in effort to meet the fast pace deadlines within our industry. Foreman will be responsible to schedule, monitor and organize day to day work in the pipe prefab shop as coordinated with VDC. The Foreman is responsible to meet scheduled goals for each job including minimizing waste and ensuring that all work is done accurately and in a timely manner.
Work Schedule:
Typically Monday – Friday, 8-10 hour days, 40 to 42.5 hours weekly. Hours may vary at times to meet project deadlines. This is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for overtime wages
Responsibilities:
Daily
- Fabricate piping and plumbing pre-fab assemblies correctly and accurately; lay out work according to spool drawings.
- Responsible to lead and clearly instruct shop crew(s) and ensure their work is done correctly.
- Responsible to provide leadership to ensure that all equipment, shop operations, and personnel comply with safety regulations, provide training as required.
- Work collaboratively with all team members to implement solutions to problems
- Utilize and instruct others in the safe and appropriate use of tools and equipment.
- Lead, train, and develop apprentices, providing instruction as required.
- Responsible for time entry for yourself and anybody else working in the shop.
- Stay up to date on email correspondence.
- Join Teams (online) meetings as-needed.
- Manage (review, print) electronic spool drawings.
Weekly
- Perform duties as assigned by the Field Plumbing & Piping Supervisor
- Organize jobs on a week to week basis to meet project schedules
- Forecast man power demand for upcoming work weeks with VDC Manager
- Plan and organize jobs on a weekly basis to meet priorities, goals, and material budgets
Monthly:
- Participate in project forecasts, progress, and pre-construction meetings as needed
Quarterly
- Review department objectives, align with strategic business goals, and ensure high quality deliverables
Annually
- Participate in annual reviews
- Conduct timely, fair, and consistent personnel evaluations on the shop crew
General
- Approach BBI Project Managers and Field Foreman as if they are your customers
- Identify and implement cost effective procedures as appropriate
- Participate in training opportunities (formal and informal) to stay current in technology and technology and techniques and to gain additional knowledge.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs of shop equipment when needed.
- Supports and participates in The Unified Group, trade and peer groups, through attendance at training events, communication via email and responding to other members.
- Research and recommend procedures in the continuous improvement of the Administrative support process.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends.
- Ability to work overtime, holidays, flexible hours, weekends and travel as necessary to accommodate our customers’ needs.
- Must be able to use technology to communicate with both field and office staff remotely.
Job Requirements:
- Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED required. Professional trade credentials in plumbing, piping, or sheet metal desired but not required
- Possess a valid, non-expired driver's license
- Be eligible under Form I-9 requirements to be legally employed in the U.S.
- Pass background driving records check

Physical Requirements:
- Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift and carry parts and equipment weighing 15-75 pounds
