Job Overview
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of BlaQue Community Cares Inc. The Executive Director oversees programs, operations, partnerships, and financial management, and works closely with the Board of Directors to advance the organization's mission and impact in Queens.
The Executive Director translates Board-approved strategy into execution and is accountable for organizational performance, sustainability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day operations of the organization
- Implement Board-approved strategic priorities and programs
- Serve as the primary representative of the organization to funders, partners, and the public
Program Oversight
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programs
- Ensure programs align with the organization's mission and community needs
- Track outcomes and report program impact to the Board and funders
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget
- Approve expenditures in accordance with Board-approved policies and spending limits
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls
- Work with staff, bookkeepers, and the Treasurer to maintain fiscal accountability
Fundraising and Partnerships
- Lead fundraising strategy including grants, sponsorships, and institutional support
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, government agencies, and community partners
- Oversee preparation and submission of grant proposals and required reports
Board Relations
- Report regularly to the Board of Directors on operations, finances, and organizational performance
- Support Board meetings, committees, and strategic planning processes
- Partner with the Board to support organizational growth and sustainability
Staff and Contractor Management
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff and consultants within Board-approved budgets
- Set performance expectations and provide guidance and feedback
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and employment standards
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, funder requirements, and organizational policies
- Support implementation of required governance, financial, and operational policies
Authority and Accountability
- The Executive Director has authority to manage staff, contractors, and program operations
- The Executive Director may enter into agreements and approve expenditures within limits set by the Board
- The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and is accountable for organizational performance
Qualifications
- Experience leading or managing nonprofit programs or initiatives
- Strong understanding of community-based work, particularly in Queens
- Experience with budgeting, grants, or financial oversight
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Evaluation
The Executive Director shall be evaluated annually by the Board of Directors based on agreed-upon goals, organizational performance, and alignment with the mission of the organization.
Pay: $18,000.00 per year
