Essential Functions

- Responsible for street repairs and maintenance
- Perform street drainage maintenance
- Keeps public grounds clear and safe, including painting buildings, mowing grass, picking up leaves and removing snow and ice during hazardous weather conditions
- Performs minor construction tasks
- Maintain water and sewer lines by performing routine and emergency repairs
- Operator various machinery including trucks, dump trucks, street sweeper, backhoe, snow removal equipment, leaf machine, bucket truck, mowers, etc.
- Operates equipment and mechanical tools and performs routine maintenance to ensure proper operating condition to include cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and monitoring fluid levels
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of machines, trucks, and other equipment used to perform work assignments
- Knowledge of and ability to apply safety precautions while performing assigned work
- Responds to and assists in emergency situations (i.e., winter storms (snow/ice), summer storms (flooding/wind, etc), sewer and water line repair
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous work experience in a related field preferred
- Class B commercial driver's license preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and be insurable
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Basic knowledge of general maintenance tasks and procedures
- Basic knowledge of ground maintenance and installation
- Skill in the operation of tools and equipment necessary to perform duties
- Skill in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Skill in working independently and following through with assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to assess site conditions, recognize current and potential safety hazards, and proceed with tasks in a safe manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public
- Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule
- Ability to perform physical outdoor activities in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry material around the work site or operate in small, enclosed spaces
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
