Blair Engineering, a precision turbomachinery manufacturer based in San Luis Obispo, is hiring a hands-on Dimensional Quality Inspector to support our growing shop.
About the Role
This is a shop-floor, hands-on inspection role working directly with machinists and engineering to ensure parts meet tight tolerances before moving to the next stage. This is not primarily a quality systems, document control, or administrative QA role.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished machined components
- Verify compliance with blueprints and tight tolerances (GD&T preferred)
- Use micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, indicators, and height gauges
- Perform first article inspections
- Identify and document non-conformances
- Review Material Test Reports (MTRs)
- Work with machinists to catch issues early and keep production moving
- Maintain a clean and organized inspection area
What We’re Looking For
- Quality inspection experience in manufacturing
- Proficient with standard precision measuring tools
- Strong blueprint reading skills (GD&T preferred)
- Experience inspecting precision machined parts (not electronics)
- Detail-oriented and reliable
- Comfortable working on your feet and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Experience in CNC machining environments preferred
Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
