Each year, BCAN provides thousands of patients, caregivers and the medical community with the educational resources and support services they need to navigate their bladder cancer journeys. BCAN works collaboratively with medical and research professionals who are dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer. 


We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to support our revenue growth plans to invest in our patient education and bladder cancer research initiatives.


Position Summary

The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network is seeking a dedicated and motivated Fundraising Manager, for Walk to End Bladder Cancer. Reporting to the Senior Development Manager/Walk Director, the Fundraising Manager candidate must have a passion for supporting a meaningful cause and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Utilizing proven networking and relationship building skills to cultivate key community connections, the ideal candidate will drive success and achieve revenue goals by strategically engaging community and corporate leaders and empowering sustainable volunteer committees.


This is a hybrid position, and candidates must be able to work in our Bethesda, Maryland offices at least two days per week.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Event Planning and Execution: Planning and execution of fundraising events to ensure they run smoothly and successfully.
  • Donor and Sponsor Engagement: Engage with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and participants to provide guidance and successfully implement proven best practices to meet fundraising goals.
  • Fundraising Communications: Assist with the production and implementation of fundraising communication strategies.
  • Volunteer Networking: Attend networking events to increase professional network, refine relationship management skills and enhance BCAN’s outreach capacity and revenue opportunities.
  • Donor Management: Update and manage donor records in (CRM) to ensure that all gifts, guest lists, and prospects are tracked and acknowledged.
  • Logistics Coordination: Prepare and organize materials and supplies for events and manage all logistical details.

 

Required Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve goals.
  • Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to use various databases, such as Blackbaud, Luminate Online and Team Raiser.
  • Attention to detail and project management and organizational are a must.
  • Prior non-profit, sales, or event planning experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to pitch in when/wherever needed.


Incumbent in this position may be required to perform other duties and special assignments not specifically stated above.


Compensation and Benefits


Salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $75,000 per year.


BCAN offers an excellent benefits package including paid time off, retirement plan contributions, medical, dental, vision insurance and competitive salary commensurate with experience. BCAN is a leader in the bladder cancer community and is committed to diversity. As the safety of our staff and community is our top priority, we will interview and screen candidates in this new virtual landscape. Must be willing to work on-site in Bethesda, MD a minimum of two days per week. This frequency may increase based upon the workload.
