Position Summary
The Controller will lead the accounting and financial operations for a holding company with four operating business units using a shared services model. This role will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and reliable information that supports leadership decision making.
The successful candidate will strengthen the monthly close process, improve financial systems and reporting, and partner with business unit leaders to bring greater financial insight to operations, inventory management, and product profitability.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who enjoys building structure while working closely with operational leaders in a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations and Reporting
- Oversee all accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, inventory accounting, and intercompany transactions.
- Lead and continuously improve the monthly close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly Consolidated financial statements and quarterly P&L actual versus plan and prior year analyzes and review results with the leadership team.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls across cash management, receivables, payables, payroll, and inventory.
- Develop and document financial policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
Systems and Technology
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current accounting and inventory systems.
- Assess potential technology improvements including the possible implementation of a future ERP system to support growth.
Banking and Financial Relationships
- Support the company’s relationship with its commercial banking partners by preparing monthly reporting packages and responding to requests for financial information.
Operations and Business Partnership
- Partner with business unit leaders to improve visibility into inventory, manufacturing costs, and product line profitability.
- Provide financial analysis that supports stronger operational decision making.
Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff including recruiting, onboarding, and training as needed.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred.
7 years of progressive accounting experience including at least 3 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or inventory intensive environments strongly preferred.
Strong experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or other ERP platforms.
Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and inventory management.
Skills and Attributes

Ability to balance detail oriented accounting work with big picture operational thinking.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial data for non financial leaders.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to accuracy.
Experience in electronics, medical, or industrial manufacturing is a plus.
