Private Equity Associate – Technology Focus
About the Firm:
Our client is a fast-growing private equity firm based in New York, with a specialized focus on investing in high-growth companies across the technology sector.
Role Overview:
The firm is seeking a highly analytical, self-motivated Private Equity Associate to join its Technology investment team in New York. This individual will be deeply involved in sourcing, evaluating, executing, and monitoring investments across the Tech ecosystem. This is an outstanding opportunity for a 2nd- or 3rd-year Investment Banking Analyst looking to transition to the buy-side at a high-performing, entrepreneurially minded platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth market research, sector mapping, and competitive analysis to identify compelling investment opportunities
- Build and maintain detailed financial models including LBOs, DCFs, and operating forecasts
- Lead valuation and due diligence efforts across financial, operational, and commercial workstreams
- Draft high-quality investment memoranda and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in deal execution and help manage third-party diligence providers
- Support and track portfolio company performance, working closely with management teams on strategic and operational initiatives
- Contribute to deal sourcing and thematic investment idea generation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a top university; strong academic track record
- 2–4 years of experience in investment banking (preferably from a top-tier or elite boutique firm); tech deal exposure preferred
- Demonstrated interest in technology investing and a deep understanding of industry dynamics
- Outstanding financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- High level of intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and attention to detail
- Team player with the ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
