Job SummaryThe primary goal of an armed security guard is to maintain peace and deter criminal activity. They patrol assigned areas, monitor for suspicious behavior, and enforce facility rules. Candidates must be physically fit, highly vigilant, and capable of making critical decisions under high-stress conditions.
- Patrol & Surveillance: Conduct regular foot or vehicle patrols of premises (e.g., parking lots, buildings) to identify safety risks or security breaches.
- Access Control: Verify identification, manage visitor logs, and prevent unauthorized entry to restricted areas.
- Emergency Response: Act as a first responder during incidents such as robberies, medical emergencies, or active shooter threats.
- Asset Protection: Safeguard high-value goods, cash, or sensitive information.
- De-escalation & Enforcement: Use conflict resolution techniques to diffuse volatile situations before resorting to force.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate daily activity logs for management and law enforcement.
- Weapon Maintenance: Ensure all assigned firearms and equipment (e.g., tasers, batons) are properly maintained and secure at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Age & Citizenship: Must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen or lawful resident.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid state Armed Security License (Guard Card).
- Background Check: Must pass a rigorous criminal background check and drug screening.
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand or walk for long periods and physically respond to emergencies.
Essential Skills
- Communication: Clear verbal and written skills for public interaction and report writing.
- Situational Awareness: Ability to read environments and identify potential threats before they escalate.
- Judgment: Discretion in knowing when and how to use force according to legal parameters.
- Medical Response: Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED is highly desirable but not required.
