Role and Responsibilities: The Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound exams independently, operating ultrasound equipment, maintaining patient workflow, and ensuring quality assurance. They prepare exam rooms, follow safety and sterilization protocols, accurately capture anatomical and pathological data, and review images with radiologists. The role involves providing age-specific patient care, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adhering to safety standards. The Sonographer maintains credentials, reports equipment issues, and collaborates with healthcare team members. Additional duties include following communication plans, completing annual training, and safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI).

Qualifications and Skills: Requires high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited sonography program, and proficiency in ultrasound equipment, computer systems, and sterile techniques. Certification as RVT or RDMS and BLS certification are required within one year. Preferred knowledge of surgical procedures and medical equipment. Must demonstrate independence, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and handling up to 50 lbs, with occasional climbing, crawling, and stooping. Repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination, and constant communication and hearing are essential.
