What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse/LPN position at Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP?
Our law firm, which consists of four attorneys and a staff of nine, is focused solely on handling personal injury cases. This includes injuries in many different situations- from a car crash, to a fall, to medical mistakes to nursing home neglect. We are seeking a Registered Nurse or, in the case of the right candidate, a LPN to assist our attorneys and paralegals on the medical aspects of our cases. We currently have two Registered Nurses on staff but have the need for a third.
The basic job tasks include meeting with, interviewing and following up with our clients to obtain their backgrounds and an overview of their injuries and medical care. Gathering, organizing and summarizing our client's medical records. Helping with our understanding of our client's injuries. Assisting in the drafting of legal documents. Conducting limited medical research. Locating and researching medical expert witnesses as well as other tasks.
For those looking to transition from a clinical setting this opportunity may present an interesting option as the work is done in our office setting. The job schedule is almost exclusively weekdays during normal business hours with no required weekends or holidays. We offer flexible scheduling and hours in a friendly and comfortable environment. Base compensation is set at an hourly rate and would be dependent on the applicant's experience and aptitude. We also offer a bonus compensation program, all holidays off, additional paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching and helath insurance with an employer contribution towards the premiums. The typically yearly compensation ranges between $45,000 and $55,000 but is variable depending on the firm's finances.
Prior legal experience is not required. The ideal candidate would have a general understanding across several aspects of medical care and preferably experience in a hospital or nursing home setting. Basic computer and writing skills are necessary as is the ability to stay organized and be able to work as part of a team.
