POSITION OVERVIEW
BKE is seeking a reliable Driver / Administrative Support team member to help keep our forensic engineering practice running smoothly across the greater Orlando, FL area. This hybrid role combines driving the Principal Engineer to and from on-site property inspections with administrative support file organization, scheduling, and data entry back at the office. No engineering background is required.
Candidates with engineering, construction, or building-trades experience are a strong plus and may take on additional field-support responsibilities over time.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive the Principal Engineer to and from on-site property inspections throughout the Orlando metro and central Florida region
• Load, unload, and carry field equipment (cameras, ladders, moisture meters, and similar gear), including items up to 50 lbs
• Organize and maintain digital and physical claim files
• Schedule and coordinate inspection appointments and manage the daily/weekly field calendar
• Perform data entry and general administrative support for claim tracking spreadsheets and correspondence
• Assist with basic photo documentation during site visits, following established numbering conventions
• Support general office tasks - filing, correspondence, and document organization
• Perform other administrative or field-support duties as assigned by the Principal Engineer
BONUS RESPONSIBILITIES (ENGINEERING / CONSTRUCTION BACKGROUND)
Candidates with an engineering, construction, or building-trades background may also take on:
• Assisting with proximity analysis of storm event data (SPC/NCEI) relative to subject properties
• Supporting NOAA/NCEI weather verification research using Local Climatological Data (LCD)
• Providing informed field observations on construction methods, building envelope systems, and roofing
conditions
• Cross-training toward forensic report drafting and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) level tasks
QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, including comfort with Excel and scheduling tools
• Comfortable with a multi-stop daily travel schedule alongside the Principal Engineer
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree a plus
• Bonus: Bachelor's degree or coursework in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or hands-on construction/trades experience
• Prior exposure to insurance claims, forensic engineering, or property inspection is a plus but not required.
SCHEDULE & WORK ARRANGEMENT
• Full-time, hybrid position based out of the Orlando, FL office
• In-office presence for administrative and file work approximately 1–2 days per week;
• Remaining days spent driving and supporting field inspections across the Orlando metro and surrounding central Florida area
• Some flexibility in daily routing and scheduling, coordinated with the Principal Engineer.
