Terry Black’s BBQ is bringing its legendary Texas barbecue to New Braunfels, and we're looking for dedicated Overnight Pit Cooks to be part of our opening team.
This role is perfect for individuals who take pride in the craft of barbecue and understand that great BBQ starts long before the doors open. As an Overnight Pit Cook, you'll play a critical role in preparing the high-quality smoked meats that guests travel far and wide to enjoy.
What You'll Do:
- Operate and manage smokers and BBQ pits during overnight shifts, ensuring meats are smoked and cooked to Terry Black’s exact standards.
- Monitor temperatures, smoke levels, and cooking times throughout the night to deliver exceptional flavor, tenderness, and consistency.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness while handling and preparing meats.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure all products meet our renowned barbecue standards before service begins.
- Work closely with the management team and fellow pit crew members to ensure a smooth transition between overnight preparation and daily operations.
- Assist with inventory preparation and organization to set the team up for success each day.
- Support the restaurant's overall operation by completing additional tasks as directed by leadership.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move up to 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the course of a shift.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with prolonged exposure to heat, including BBQ pits, smokers, and outdoor conditions.
