This role is responsible for the end-to-end flow of goods—from procurement and inventory management to shipping and receiving operations—ensuring we meet the highest standards for our customers. The ideal candidate has manufacturing supply chain leadership experience and understands the complexities of big-box retail and ecommerce logistics.
You will oversee multiple functions, lead frontline managers, and be directly involved in daily operations. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, operational discipline, and a relentless drive to deliver results.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
Procurement
- Source and qualify new suppliers, negotiate favorable contracts, and build strong supplier relationships.
- Manage the purchasing process from vendor selection to purchase order placement.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Optimize inventory levels to minimize stockouts and reduce excess.
- Implement and maintain robust inventory control systems (e.g., FIFO, ABC analysis).
- Conduct regular inventory audits and resolve discrepancies.
Shipping & Receiving Management
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics, including ecommerce order fulfillment and big-box retail shipments.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific routing guides, labeling, and scheduling requirements.
- Partner with customer logistics teams on LTL, FTL, and drop ship coordination.
Supply Chain Operations
- Collaborate with sales, production, and customer service to forecast demand and align supply chain activities.
- Identify and mitigate potential disruptions to ensure continuous flow.
- Analyze supply chain metrics and drive process improvements.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion ERP system utilization for purchasing, inventory, and shipping functions.
- Leverage data analytics for operational decision-making.
- Lead process standardization and best practice implementation.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
- On-time shipment rate (target 99.9% )
- Inventory accuracy rate
- Vendor on-time delivery performance
- Cost savings achieved through process or vendor optimization
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with big-box retailer compliance and ecommerce fulfillment.
- Strong ERP and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated success in hands-on management of shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
- Experience implementing 5S and/or ISO 9001 processes preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and operate in an office and warehouse environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
