DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Position Summary:

Black Creek is looking for a Director of Marketing & Communications to own our day-to-day marketing and communications, freeing our leadership team to focus on strategy and growth.

You'll help shape our annual marketing plan, turn it into a working calendar, lead our agency and PR partners, and own the content that reaches prospects, residents, club members, agents, and builders. You'll write, edit, and hold the standard for accuracy and brand voice across everything we publish.

This is a hands-on director role. You'll lead through agency and vendor partners rather than direct reports, working directly with senior leadership on how a growing community tells its story, with room to build an internal team as we grow.

It's an exciting time to join, as Black Creek enters its biggest growth phase to date. The role suits someone who enjoys variety over specialization, moving between writing, agency management, events, and community partnerships rather than going deep in one lane.

Reporting Structure & Collaboration:

  • Reports to: Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing
  • Collaborates with: Teams across sales, club, HOA, and development, plus our agency, PR team, builders, and residents

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Measurement

  • Work with our agency and the SVP to build an annual marketing plan, using sales goals and pace, plus product delivery timelines, then translate it into monthly campaign and content calendars
  • Strengthen messaging alignment across sales, club, HOA, events, and development so we sound like one community
  • Track priorities and approvals in ClickUp, and bring recommendations, not just status updates, to the SVP and leadership team
  • Build a monthly view of marketing performance with our agency (traffic, lead quality, channel results, and engagement), review it with Sales leadership, and turn it into recommendations that favor lead quality and sales impact over volume

Agency & Vendor Leadership

  • Serve as the day-to-day lead for our agency of record across creative, media, web, and email work, managing scope, deliverables, and timelines while keeping approvals and feedback moving
  • Manage photo, video, print, and other production vendors

Content & Channels

  • Own organic social: calendar, publishing, and community engagement, with strategy shaped alongside our agency
  • Write and produce newsletters, email, and project and community updates for prospects, residents, and club members, drawing on internal team leads for project facts and timing
  • Develop sales funnel and nurture messaging with the sales team, plus welcome and onboarding materials for new homeowners
  • Create brochures, sales collateral, and print materials with our agency, and use Canva in-house for everyday graphics and flyers
  • Supply copy and keep information current on our website, coordinating updates with our agency

Public Relations & Media

  • Help lead day-to-day work with our PR firm, keep a rolling pipeline of story angles tied to community milestones, and monitor coverage so reputation issues surface early
  • Serve as first point of contact for media inquiries, coordinate with development leadership on permitting and construction topics, and work with PR partners on talking points and spokesperson support

Brand & Accuracy

  • Steward the Black Creek brand guidelines across all marks and channels, including builder marketing and the builder toolkit
  • Review external content and verify facts (pricing, availability, rankings, timelines) before publishing

Events

  • Partner with the Events Manager on event promotion, signage, collateral, and talking points, and support prospect, real estate agent, and off-site activations
  • Capture photos, quotes, and testimonials at events and partner activities, and tell those stories through recaps, PR, social, and resident communications

Ideal Qualifications:

Required

  • 5 years of progressive marketing or communications experience, including managing agency or vendor relationships (agency-side experience welcome)
  • Exceptional writer and editor, with a portfolio of writing and design work to show for it
  • Proficiency in Canva for in-house design, with a strong visual eye and respect for brand standards
  • Experience running multi-channel campaigns across social, email, web, and print
  • Working knowledge of an email platform (e.g., Mailchimp) and social and web analytics
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to speed up drafting, research, reporting, and production, with the judgment to verify accuracy and protect brand voice and confidential information
  • Sound judgment on brand, accuracy, and reputation risk
  • Organized and self-directed, comfortable owning a broad scope on a small team

Preferred

  • Marketing experience in real estate, hospitality, club, or community development
  • Media relations or PR experience
  • Event marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Job Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and AD&D coverage
  • Competitive paid time off (PTO) policy
  • Company-matched 401(k) plan (after 6 months)
  • Black Creek Club employee privileges, subject to club policies
  • Complimentary lunch provided Tuesday–Friday
  • Additional benefits as outlined in the employee handbook

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to legally operate a vehicle.
  • Must possess a vehicle in good working order.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test.
  • Professional references provided upon request.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch, using hands and fingers for detailed work.
  • The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Must be capable of effectively using close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Job Type:

  • Full-time and on-site, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends for community events and activations.

Pay:

  • This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
