Job Summary
Black Box Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented NetworkTechnician to support our Networking, KVM, and AV product groups. This hands-on role is responsible for system configuration, imaging, testing, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support of customer solutions in a warehouse/manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is technically inclined, comfortable working with both hardware and software, and able to accurately follow technical documentation and build instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, assemble, and test Networking, KVM, and AV solutions in a warehouse/manufacturing environment
- Perform IP addressing, system imaging, and device configuration
- Manage KVM systems, including licensing and ongoing configuration
- Perform firmware upgrades on supported hardware and systems
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Receive, inspect, and process customer returns (RMA) for repair or credit, ensuring proper documentation and tracking
- Diagnose returned equipment to determine repair requirements or eligibility for credit
- Verify system functionality against customer and project requirements
- Accurately read, understand, and follow user manuals, technical documentation, and build instructions
- Document configurations, test results, return evaluations, and quality issues as required
- Support continuous improvement of lab operations and return-processing procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of:
- Networking fundamentals
- KVM systems
- AV product groups
- Experience with:
- IP addressing and network configuration
- System imaging
- Hardware and software troubleshooting
- Firmware upgrades
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and documentation
- Working knowledge of:
- SAP S/4HANA
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 30 pounds in a lab environment
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree or technical degree in electronics/networking or equivalent certifications OR
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on technical experience, 5 is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a configuration, lab, or staging environment
- Experience handling RMA, repair, or return processes
- Familiarity with enterprise-level AV or KVM deployments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
