The Lead Carpenter / Site Supervisor serves as the primary on-site leader for Black Bear Construction projects. This is a working leadership role requiring advanced carpentry skills while supervising a crew of 2–3 carpenters. The Lead Carpenter is responsible for maintaining project quality, productivity, safety, and client satisfaction by coordinating daily operations, directing crew members, and serving as the primary point of communication between the jobsite, homeowners, subcontractors, and company ownership.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily construction activities while actively performing skilled carpentry work.
- Supervise, mentor, and direct a crew of 2–3 carpenters and laborers.
- Coordinate daily work plans to maintain project schedule and quality.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for homeowners and clients.
- Communicate project progress, concerns, and material needs with company ownership.
- Ensure work complies with building codes, plans, and company quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Coordinate deliveries, inspections, and subcontractor activities.
- Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule or budget.
- Train less experienced employees in proper construction techniques.
- Perform layout, framing, finish carpentry, and other skilled construction tasks as required.
- Track labor hours, document progress, and assist with project documentation.
Qualifications
- 5 years of residential carpentry experience.
- Proven leadership or crew management experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and building codes.
- Ability to read plans and execute work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and perform physical work throughout the day.
