Southern Hobby Distribution, LLC. was founded in 1991 with one simple goal: to become our customers’ greatest asset by delivering top-quality products, unmatched customer service, and the most knowledgeable sales staff in the hobby industry.
If you thrive running a fast-paced warehouse floor, love building a team, and want ownership over your own shift, this is your role.
We're looking for a 2nd Shift Warehouse Manager to take ownership of our evening warehouse operations — receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and staff supervision. You'll be the driving force behind operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, safety compliance, and on-time order delivery, all while leading a high-performance team through the back half of the day.
What You'll Own
Warehouse Operations
- Run daily 2nd shift activities: receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Keep orders accurate and on time, every night, including meeting daily shipping cutoffs.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage, and workflow for maximum efficiency.
- Manage workflow and staffing levels in real time to match order volume, seasonal peaks, and same-day priorities.
- Partner with purchasing, sales, and logistics — and hand off cleanly to 1st shift leadership — to keep operations seamless around the clock.
- Maintain accurate shift logs and communicate key updates, issues, and wins to leadership.
Inventory Management
- Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counts and audits.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment activities with purchasing.
- Track down and resolve discrepancies before they become problems.
- Ensure proper product handling and storage standards are followed shift after shift.
- Oversee proper labeling, slotting, and organization to support fast, accurate picking.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, schedule, and train your 2nd shift crew.
- Set clear performance expectations and hold your team accountable.
- Build a shift culture that's positive, productive, and safety-first.
- Play an active role in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.
- Coach underperformance early and recognize strong performers to keep the team engaged.
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and shift coverage.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce warehouse safety standards and OSHA guidelines on every shift.
- Lead regular safety inspections and training.
- Ensure safe, proper use of equipment — forklifts, pallet jacks, and more.
- Investigate and document any incidents, near-misses, or equipment issues, and follow up on corrective action.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse floor.
Process Improvement
- Spot opportunities to boost efficiency and cut operational costs.
- Roll out best practices in inventory control, fulfillment, and logistics.
- Own your KPIs: order accuracy, productivity, on-time shipping, and labor efficiency.
- Recommend and help implement process or technology improvements specific to 2nd shift workflows.
What You Bring
- 5 years of warehouse or distribution operations experience.
- 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Hands-on experience with WMS and inventory software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities without missing a beat, in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Comfortable being the go-to decision-maker on the floor when the rest of the building has gone home.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel especially) for tracking and reporting.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or business a plus.
- Experience in distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, or a similarly high-volume warehouse environment strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the warehouse for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to safely operate or oversee the operation of warehouse equipment.
