What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety (Campus Entrance) Communications Specialist (Student) position at BJU, Inc.?
SUMMARY: Work at the Main Entrance, operate dispatch, and greet visitors.
*Bob Jones University students only*
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Entry & Intermediate level positions
- Able to work assigned shifts, which may include day, evening, night, weekend, or holiday shift hours
- Receive, dispatch, and log radio traffic on multiple radio frequencies
- Receive, dispatch, and log emergency and non-emergency phone calls at the Main Entrance
- Monitor fire and security alarms and cameras, dispatch, and log all alarms received
- Greet visitors to the campus, answer questions, and provide directions
- Follow established assignment schedule, ensure field officers are informed, and log all assignments completed
- May obtain CPR/First Aid certification
- Must (occasionally) lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
- Communication and customer service skills; proficient in phone etiquette
- Multi-tasking skills under pressure while maintaining a professional and calm appearance and atmosphere
- Education: High school graduate or GED
- Computer Programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Web-based applications
- Speedy and accurate keyboarding skills
