SUMMARY: Assist the teacher in the supervision and management of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
- This position qualifies for the Federal Work-Study program which is given to students who demonstrate a significant financial need based upon their FAFSA calculation. In addition, students must indicate on their FAFSA that they are interested in "work-study". The starting wage for all Federal Work-Study positions is $10 an hour for the state of South Carolina.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the developing, planning and implementing of a daily curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and provides social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual experiences for children in the classroom
- Follows proper safety guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of children at all times
- Performs assigned responsibilities, duties and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques and standards with minimal supervision
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
- Successfully complete SLED and FBI checks
- Must be capable of maintaining a positive attitude, displaying a caring concern toward children, parents and coworkers
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young children
- Ability to provide guidance for young children
- Ability to work with children and be able to move quickly to assist and supervise young children
- Ability to lift children, equipment and supplies, and to hear and see at a distance
- Ability to model positive Christ like attitude and demeanor with the children in their care
REQUIRED TRAINING:
- Fifteen clock hours of training annually pertaining to Growth and Development, Curriculum, and Health and Safety
- Blood borne Pathogens and Right to Know Training as required by federal law
- Physical and PPD (TB Test)
