Centralized Telemetry Runner (Evenings)

BJC HealthCare System is now hiring a Full-Time Centralized Telemetry Runner for Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis, MO).

Position Details:

• Full-Time, 36 hours/week (Benefit-eligible)
• Afternoon / Evening Shift Schedule: 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts (Afternoon Hours: 11:00 AM – 11PM)
• Rotation: Every other weekend and holidays, with additional pay for weekend work
• Responsibilities include delivering and maintaining telemetry equipment, hooking up patients, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting the Central Telemetry department

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and set up telemetry equipment for patients across various hospital units
• Connect patients to telemetry equipment and ensure proper functioning
• Troubleshoot telemetry devices as needed
• Support patient care through active walking and equipment management
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff
• Utilize computer skills for documentation and reporting

Physical Requirements:

• Active walking throughout the hospital campus, including South, North, and Parkview Tower
• Ability to stand and walk extensively during shifts
• Carry up to 10 lbs and push carts 

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education

Experience:

• Healthcare experience involving patient contact or communication (preferred)
• Previous experience as a Tele-Runner is a plus

Centralized Telemetry, a department in which trained monitor technicians observe and analyze various heart rhythms of patients who are admitted to the Centralized Telemetry Monitoring system. Technicians monitor patients within BJH North and South, as well as, BJ West County. Constant communication with nursing staff regarding changes in rhythm status is key to patient care. Technicians will call CODES if lethal rhythms are detected for patient safety and positive outcome of patient condition

Role Purpose

Provides support to the Tech II located at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Telemetry distribution center to ensure the prompt and accurate delivery of telemetry monitoring equipment and department specific information. Collaborates with monitoring technicians to verify correct attachment and receipt of telemetry signal while at the patient's bedside. Responsible for delivery and maintenance of inventory, including inventory storage, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
