Journeyman Union Scale (Cat 2 - 6). Range $29.29 - 47.24 per hour (based on experience and/or size and type of equipment)

Job Summary: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery to support construction, excavation, material handling, and site preparation activities. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, equipment care, and teamwork while performing work in accordance with company policies, project specifications, and applicable regulations.
Other Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References may also be checked. We participate in E-Verify.
Job Duties & Requirements:

- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, graders, backhoes, skid steers, articulated dump trucks, and similar machinery.
- Perform earthmoving, trenching, grading, loading, and material placement activities as directed.
- Inspect equipment before, during, and after use to ensure safe operation and report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks such as greasing, fueling, and cleaning equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, traffic control plans, and site‑specific rules.
- Read and interpret basic plans, grade stakes, and verbal or written instructions.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, spotters, laborers, and other team members.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to avoid hazards to people, utilities, structures, and equipment.
- Complete required documentation, inspections, or equipment logs as assigned.
- Support jobsite housekeeping and assist with manual labor as needed.
- Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, or related industries.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus but not required).
- Willingness to work extended hours, early mornings, and weekends as needed.
- High school education or GED equivalent.
- Strong team player
- Reliable and on-time.
