What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry Cook position at Bittersweet Pastry Shop & Cafe?
Seeking a skilled Pastry Chef to join our dynamic culinary team.
You will mix batters, prep custards and mousses, form tart shells, bake cheesecakes, mix cookie dough, fill tart shells and finish desserts. You will also assist in building and finishing layered cakes.
Large volume production for three locations plus catering and special events.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, and baked goods
- Decorate cakes and confections
- Package finished products carefully for presentation and delivery
- Assist in food production and food preparation processes to support kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station in compliance with food safety regulations
- Handle food with proper hygiene practices, ensuring safety and quality at all times
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods and special events
Requirements
- Proven pastry experience in a restaurant kitchen or bakery
- Skilled in cake decorating, icing techniques, and creative presentation styles
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation protocols in a commercial kitchen
- Experience in food production, catering, or restaurant environments is highly desirable
- Excellent knife skills for precise cutting and preparation of ingredients
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards
- Strong communication skills with team and management
