Summer Camp Leader Position
Are you an organized, engaging, and energetic individual with a passion for working with children and a love for the outdoors? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Our organization is seeking Summer Camp Leaders to join our team and contribute to the overall success of our summer program.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Summer Leader, your main responsibilities will include:
Lead fun, hands-on outdoor adventures that spark curiosity and creativity.
- Follow and implement the camp’s curriculum and philosophy, providing a safe, engaging, and active learning environment.
- Plan and guide daily activities, games, hikes, and nature discoveries, embracing the goal of a fully outdoor, interactive summer experience and weekly themes.
- Be an active, enthusiastic role model—jump in, get messy, and explore alongside campers.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with staff, volunteers, and parents to ensure smooth camp operations and team collaboration.
- Support children’s social-emotional growth through positive reinforcement and encouragement.
- Ensure campers’ safety, supervision, and well-being, while complying with all licensing requirements.
- Prepare, organize, and clean toys, materials, and camp spaces daily to maintain a safe environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents through announcements, messages, and photos to share camper experiences.
- Secure substitutes in advance when needed and keep supervisors updated on activities and field trips.
- Model environmental stewardship and teamwork while actively engaging in hands-on outdoor exploration and learning.
- Maintaining current CPR/First Aid certification, undergoing state-licensing training, and complying with background checks and state-licensing requirements.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, not exceeding 40 total hours per week.
- Pay scale ranging from $15-20 per hour based on experience and training.
- Availability to work from June 1 to August 28th. We can be flexible with these dates, so feel free to contact us if this opportunity resonates with you.
Qualifications:
- A high school degree is preferred.
- We will prioritize applicants with or working towards an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Proven experience in working with children.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in engaging diverse audiences.
- Passion for the outdoors and early childhood education.
