Bishop & Company is conducting a search on behalf of this institution for a Senior Payroll Manager who can bring technical depth, steady leadership, and sound judgment to a complex, highly regulated payroll environment. What You'll Own
- End-to-end payroll processing across multiple divisions — accurate, compliant, and on time, every cycle
- Internal controls design and maintenance to keep operations audit-ready year-round
- Payroll reconciliations across retirement plans, tax services, insurance, garnishments, savings savings plans, and related accounts
- Management reporting and ad hoc payroll and compensation analyses for senior leadership
- Primary liaison relationships with auditors, tax agencies, and external partners
- Hiring, developing, and supervising a dedicated payroll team
- Process improvement, system enhancement, and documentation initiatives
- Special projects and cyclical payroll programs throughout the year
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field (or Associate's degree with 10 years of progressive payroll/HRIS/GL experience)
- 5 years working with ERP HR/payroll systems
- 2 years of supervisory or management experience
- Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office proficiency
- CPP certification preferred
- Multi-state payroll experience
- Ability to interpret and apply complex payroll regulations with confidence
- Experience with adjunct pay, stipends, and higher education payroll structures is a strong plus
- Ellucian (Banner) experience preferred
The Details
- In-office role in Honolulu, Hawaii
- Salary range: $75,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience
- Competitive benefits package including generous paid time off
- Extended hours expected during peak payroll cycles
- Must be able to relocate at own expense
