SUMMARY
The J-STD-001 Soldering Technician supports production operations by assembling and terminating connector inserts, cables, and wire assemblies in accordance with IPC/J-STD-001 Class 3 standards. This role requires experience with soldering, cable and connector assembly, and the ability to follow customer wiring diagrams and manufacturing instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Terminate inserts (P1 and P2 configurations) using wire or cable assemblies
- Perform soldering operations in accordance with IPC/J-STD-001 Class 3 standards
- Follow customer wiring diagrams, work instructions, and production documentation
- Install shrink tubing, Tygon tubing, backshells, and Glenair straps
- Assemble terminated inserts into connector shells (P1 and P2)
- Perform final cleaning of oil-filled assemblies
- Install outer sleeving and product labels
- Inspect completed assemblies for workmanship, accuracy, and quality compliance
- Place completed assemblies into designated job totes
- Complete M1 transactions and maintain accurate production records
- Handle materials and components carefully to prevent damage
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
- Must be able to work a consistent schedule

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Minimum of 1–3 years of related soldering, cable assembly, or electronic manufacturing experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by management.
Preferred:
- Current IPC/J-STD-001 certification
- IPC-A-610 and/or WHMA-A-620 certification preferred
- Experience working in a high-reliability manufacturing environment
- Experience with cable termination, connector assembly, and Class 3 workmanship standards
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and assembly instructions
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, computer data, and procedure manuals. The ability to speak effectively, and clearly so others can understand you, before individuals or groups.
SOCIAL SKILLS: Ability to continually interact with others as a contributing member of a close-knit team. Ability to work closely together with others, possibly of different backgrounds and interests, without friction. Works well with people. Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Aptitude to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to comfortably use computer software in Windows environment. Basic understanding of software, word-processing, spreadsheet, and related office applications.
GENERAL: Self-starter, able to work independently, able to work under pressure, comfortable with interacting with multiple levels of organization, able to work cross-functionally within organization to accomplish objectives, results oriented.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works in a production and manufacturing environment where employees may be exposed to soldering equipment, fumes, machinery, noise, and standard manufacturing materials. Appropriate safety equipment and training will be provided.
