The Accounting Generalist reports to the Financial Controller. This individual is an accounting support professional who performs duties for the Finance Department.
Accounting responsibilities will include all necessary functions assigned to ensure day-to-day operations and coordination of duties to meet departmental goals and payroll. This individual contributes to and performs their duties in a manner that supports a positive customer experience, and employee experience. Maintains professional, courteous relationships and is timely and accurate in correspondence with all customers, suppliers & vendors. Additionally, the Accounting Generalist manages daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing support. They ensure accurate record-keeping, compliance with GAAP, and assist with financial reporting, acting as a versatile, member within the finance department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Accounts Payable (AP) & Receivable (AR): Processing vendor invoices, check requests, ACH payments, issuing customer invoices, and managing collections.
- General Ledger & Journal Entries: Maintaining and updating the general ledger and recording daily financial transactions.
- Bank Reconciliation: Matching internal financial records with bank statements to ensure accuracy.
- Payroll Administration: Processing payroll, managing employee records, and handling tax withholdings.
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Assisting in closing processes, including account reconciliation and preparing financial reports.
- Tax Compliance: Processing tax reports and filings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general bookkeeping practices.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and good communication skills.
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar role.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to handle high-volume data entry and meet tight deadlines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups. (Ability to speak a language other than English may be helpful but is not required.)
SOCIAL SKILLS: Ability to continually interact with others as a contributing member of a close-knit team. Ability to work together with others, possibly of different backgrounds and interests, without friction. Works well with people. Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and finance. Ability to understand and produce standard financial statements.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to comfortably use computer software in Windows environment. Intermediate to advanced understanding of word-processing, spreadsheet, and related office applications. Experience with an accounting ERP software (M1 preferred) and strong Excel skills.
GENERAL: Self -starter, able to work independently, able to work under pressure, comfortable with selling into multiple levels of organization, able to work cross-functionally within organization to accomplish objectives, results oriented.
