Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, exercise, and enrichment activities to promote health and happiness
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, cages, and common areas through thorough cleaning and sanitization practices
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to prevent injury or stress
- Monitor animal behavior closely to identify signs of illness or distress and communicate any concerns to veterinary staff or management
- Assist with pet boarding, pet sitting, and outdoor activities to ensure pets are comfortable during their stay
- Support team lifting efforts when moving animals or supplies to ensure safety for yourself and colleagues
- Engage in pet grooming and basic training activities to enhance animal comfort and behavior management
Requirements
- Prior experience working with animals in veterinary clinics, pet boarding facilities, or kennels is highly preferred
- Knowledge of animal handling, restraint techniques, and behavior assessment is essential
- Experience with pet sitting, dog training, or veterinary assisting will be advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling large animals or equipment
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
- Willingness to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions while caring for animals outdoors or during walks
- Commitment to maintaining a sanitized environment through proper cleaning and disinfection protocols
