What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic Class 1 position at Birdon America, Inc.?

Schedule: 4x10’s; M – T, 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
This position is located at our Bayou La Batre, AL facility.

Our mechanics are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis. Some of your daily functions will include:
- Knowledge of 12-volt and 24-volt electrical systems as it pertains to starting circuits.
- Must be able to follow schedules and deadlines.
- Must be able to align diesel engines to shafts proficiently.
- Must be able to install and align P-Struts
- Must be able to read various instruments of measure (micrometer, feeler gauges, levels, tape, torque wrenches, calipers, etc)
- Must possess advanced knowledge of steering, fuel, exhaust, cooling, and other related systems as it pertains to marine engines and generators.
- Must be able to install systems including but not limited to: fire suppression, steering, cooling, fuel, DC systems related to engines, fire pumps, jets, drive shafts and exhaust.
- Install generators.
- Install and plumb AC and generator cooling water pickup systems.
- Run and troubleshoot generator systems.
If you have at least 2 years’ experience in Marine Mechanical Installation, possess a High School Diploma or GED and fundamental knowledge in marine electrical systems, we want to talk to you!
