BSI is seeking a Lead Senior Security Systems Engineer to provide expert-level engineering support for a large-scale federal maintenance and modernization program. This position serves as the technical authority on complex security system issues, including troubleshooting, system design, and operational problem resolution.
The Lead Senior Engineer will provide guidance on system performance, oversee field investigations, and develop innovative engineering solutions for unique or non-standard situations. This individual may lead or mentor junior engineers and technicians and will be a key contributor to system design, configuration, and optimization efforts.
This position is fully remote, with up to 25% travel to project sites nationwide. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and will be required to provide a Letter of Commitment prior to project award.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the senior technical authority for all system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance across security and access control systems.
- Develop and review detailed designs, specifications, and test plans for complex equipment and systems.
- Research, analyze, and resolve advanced design and operational issues; make sound engineering decisions when standard methods are not applicable.
- Provide expert-level advice on unusual or controversial problems and recommend appropriate design or procedural modifications.
- Plan and lead experiments, prototype evaluations, and performance tests to validate new system designs or performance improvements.
- Recommend and implement new design techniques or configurations to improve performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Advise equipment users or client representatives on redesign or corrective measures for operational deficiencies.
- Mentor, train, and support lower-level engineers or technicians in troubleshooting, testing, and integration activities.
- Support documentation and technical reporting requirements for government and internal stakeholders.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in security systems design and integration, including experience with enterprise access control and video management systems.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Certifications (Required):
- Certified System Engineer ICAM PACS (CSEIP) or equivalent.
- Lenel Certified Associate (or equivalent credential).
- Genetec Security Center Omnicast – Advanced Configuration and Troubleshooting certification, or equivalent.
Substitution:
- An additional 5 years of relevant supervisory experience in installation, testing, integration, or corrective maintenance of complex systems may substitute for the educational requirement.
Additional Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required (due to federal contract requirements).
- Must be available to begin work by February 2026.
- Letter of Commitment required prior to project award.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for site visits, system validation, and client coordination.
