What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wholesale Operations Lead position at birddogs?
About the Company
birddogs is a growth stage men’s apparel brand nearing a $100m run rate. It has the highest awareness and NetPromoter Score of any men’s apparel brand launched in the last 25 years. With a recent expansion from DTC to omnichannel (Amazon, specialty retail, and national wholesale), the business has become more complex incredibly quickly.
About the Role
The Wholesale Operations Lead owns and builds the operational backbone of birddogs' wholesale business. This role sits at the center of wholesale, ensuring everything runs cleanly from order creation to cash collection.
You'll own the systems, processes, and execution across wholesale — working closely with sales reps, retailers, product, and finance. This is a high-ownership role where you'll be expected to solve problems quickly and improve how things work.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage the Elastic Suite B2B platform, oversee order flow through Shopify, and ensure product and account data is accurate and up to date. If you’ve worked in apparel, understand wholesale dynamics, and want to build scalable operations at a fast-growing brand, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Support and enable the 1099 sales team through operational support and direct selling assistance (e.g. trade show participation)
- Oversee the full order lifecycle - from order entry to fulfillment, invoicing, and collections
- Own and administer the Elastic Suite B2B customer platform, including publishing catalogs and order processing
- Manage EDI relationships, ensuring timely, accurate document transmission
- Coordinate with supply chain on production timelines; communicate updates to reps / accounts
- Act as the primary point of contact for both new and existing wholesale partners, managing onboarding, ensuring accurate account setup, and delivering a seamless integration experience
Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant experience in wholesale operations, preferably within apparel or a B2B environment
- Familiarity with Shopify, Elastic, SPS Commerce, or similar order management systems and EDI platforms
- Proven experience supporting B2B sales for an apparel brand (e.g., managing specialty retail accounts)
- Highly scrappy and resourceful, with the ability to operate independently and solve problems with minimal oversight
- Strong Excel proficiency, including working with sales data and using formulas/pivot tables to generate insights
- Willingness to work on-site at the Newark, DE warehouse 3–4 days per week
- Enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and optimize workflows
