Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with each student's educational goals.
- Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained multi-categorical classroom.
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
- Differentiate curriculum, accommodations, and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and effective classroom management techniques.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance records.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, therapists, school psychologists, and families.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities.
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and independence.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.
- Active Special Education teaching certification required (or eligibility to obtain).
- Experience working in a self-contained special education classroom preferred.
- Experience supporting students with a variety of disabilities and learning needs preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Passion for helping students reach their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
- School-based assignment serving elementary or middle school students.
- Self-contained multi-categorical classroom.
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team including administrators, therapists, school psychologists, and related service providers.
- Student-centered environment focused on academic achievement, functional skill development, and independence.
