Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide individualized and differentiated instruction based on student needs and IEP goals.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, accommodations, and assessments to support student learning.
- Provide instruction in a self-contained classroom setting.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
- Implement positive behavior supports and effective classroom management strategies.
- Support students with moderate disabilities across academic, behavioral, social, and developmental areas.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, families, and related service providers.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities.
- Foster a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote student independence and participation in classroom and school activities.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.
- Active South Carolina Special Education certification required or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Experience working in a self-contained special education classroom preferred.
- Experience supporting students with moderate disabilities is a plus.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly K–2, preferred.
- Strong classroom management and behavior support skills.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective IEP-based instruction.
