Birch Agency is seeking an experienced Part-Time Hybrid Special Education Coordinator to support and oversee a high school special education program in Michigan. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a special education professional with a strong understanding of Michigan special education law and compliance, experience managing IEP processes, and familiarity with the My STAR IEP system.

This hybrid role offers a combination of on-site and remote responsibilities while providing oversight, guidance, and support to special education staff and students at the high school level.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the high school special education program
• Ensure compliance with Michigan special education laws, regulations, and IDEA requirements
• Provide guidance and support to special education teachers, related service providers, and administrators
• Monitor IEP development, implementation, and compliance timelines
• Utilize and support staff with the My STAR IEP program
• Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and manifestation determination reviews
• Review special education documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Collaborate with school leadership, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Assist with program development, compliance monitoring, and staff training
• Support transition planning and services for high school students
  
  

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Special Education certification and School Administrator Certificate
• Strong knowledge of Michigan special education law and IDEA regulations
• Experience coordinating or leading special education programs
• Experience with My STAR IEP preferred
• Knowledge of IEP compliance, evaluations, and due process procedures
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• High school special education experience preferred
