What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Support Specialist position at BioZyme Inc?
Purpose:
The Procurement Support Specialist supports purchasing, order processing, and logistics operations to ensure efficient supply chain performance and strong customer service.
Role Accountabilities:
- Takes ownership of financial actions and decisions ensuring awareness of how affect the company’s finances. This could involve understanding the costs associated with tasks, the time of work, or the impact of waste and inefficiencies.
- Prepare and process purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, supplies, and finished goods
- Review purchase order contracts for compliance with company policy
- Monitor demand levels for major ingredients and materials
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers for raw ingredient , finished products and packaging purchasing
- Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers and customers
- Process GP receipts and review invoices relative to GP receipts for accuracy
- Determine timing and liaise with internal departments for incoming shipments
- Assist in purchasing
- Takes inbound orders using BackOffice from customers
- Checking to see if inventory is in stock to set delivery expectations and then communicating any changes internally and externally to all parties
- Reviewing orders for accuracy and completion
- Striving to upsell the customer on diversification products
- Negotiate freight quotes for domestic and international shipments
- Communicates freight transportation selection/information to customers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve cost efficiency, speed, and/or quality of transportation services (includes international)
- Manage USPS / UPS / FedEx orders to ensure sent in a time accurate and cost-efficient manner
- Effectively utilizes Asana to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and collaboration with team members
- Book all domestic freight, including ensuring all shipments and delivery
- Work with the Director of Purchasing and Sales Support on freight rates
- Check in trucks that are picking up and/or delivering products
- Build and maintain relationships with freight companies and their drivers, ensuring best customer service possible
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Required Education – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, relevant work experience
- Work Experience (preferred)– 1 years of related experience in purchasing, logistics, order processing, agriculture, or related field
- Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, data entry)
- Willingness to learn the purchasing, order taking, and shipping processes work
- This position will be 100% in-person at our headquarters located in St. Joseph, MO. Must be willing to live or relocate within commutable distance of work location.
