About the Role
BioTrace Scientific Inc is hiring a Laboratory Technician to support analytical testing at our new analytical testing laboratory in North Hollywood, California. We specialize in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, and botanical raw materials. This role focuses on sample preparation, instrument operation, and data documentation under established SOPs in a regulated laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, log, and prepare samples for analytical testing
- Perform sample preparation including weighing, dilution, extraction (including QuEChERS), microwave digestion, and filtration
- Operate analytical instruments under established methods and SOPs, including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, HPLC, HPTLC, and FTIR
- Set up and run sequences, monitor instrument performance, and prepare standards and mobile phases
- Record results clearly and accurately in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and inventory of consumables and reagents
- Follow safety procedures, cGMP, and laboratory SOPs at all times
- Support the senior team with routine instrument maintenance, calibration checks, and system suitability
- Communicate any deviations or issues to the Senior Analyst or Lab Director
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field, OR equivalent hands-on lab experience
- 1 year of laboratory experience (academic, internship, or industry)
- Comfortable preparing samples and running analytical instruments under written procedures
- Familiarity with at least one of: LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, HPLC, HPTLC, or FTIR
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
- Being a team player
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, AI.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dietary supplement, food, pharmaceutical, or environmental testing lab
- Hands-on experience with sample preparation techniques such as QuEChERS, microwave digestion, or solid-phase extraction
- Exposure to multiple analytical platforms (chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy)
- Familiarity with cGMP or ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory environments
- Familiarity with any LIMS system
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work full-time on-site at the North Hollywood laboratory
- Comfortable working with chemicals, solvents, acids, and analytical instruments
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
- US work authorization
