**Job Description**
We are seeking a Phlebotomist to work 40 hours per week at our Suffern location.
Schedule: Monday/Thursday (7:30 am - 5:00 pm), Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday (7:30 am - 4:00 pm) E/O Saturday (9:00 am - 2:00 pm)
Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation, ensuring high-quality care for patients and partners by obtaining sufficient samples with minimal discomfort across diverse demographics.
Principal Job Duties:
- Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
- Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously as required.
- Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understands all physicians' orders.
- Maintains accurate labeling, centrifugation, splitting, and freezing of specimens.
- Packages specimens for transport and stores them according to required temperature.
- Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations, wearing appropriate attire including PPE.
- Attends annual department trainings and answers telephone calls, reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Education:
* High School Diploma or GED
Experience and Required Skills:
- Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent patient interaction skills both in person and by phone.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
