Position: Research Associate or Associate Scientist (Irvine, CA In Person)
Title and leveling are dependent on experience (Research Associate - Scientist levels available)
We are seeking a highly motivated, diligent, and experienced Research Associate or Specialist to join a Research & Early Development team. The candidate will play a key role in the evaluation of therapeutic lead molecules and will be responsible for executing a wide range of in vivo and in vitro studies for lead characterization. This position will require about 90% wet bench work. The candidate must be local or willing to relocate. The candidate will directly report to the Director of Research & Early Development.
Core Responsibilities
- Independently perform in vivo mouse work, including husbandry and mouse delivery, mouse tagging/grouping, monitoring weight and tumor growth, blood collection, and injections via i.p. or i.v..
- Independently perform conventional biochemical and cell-based in vitro assays such as ELISA and flow cytometry; participate in new assay development.
- Handle routine cell cultures of various tumor cell lines, and to a lesser extent some primary cell cultures; participate in laboratory inventory management.
- Maintain thorough experimental records with regular updates.
- Analyze experimental results and deliver reports in a timely manner.
- Communicate project progress within and across teams.
Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in immunology, cell biology, or a related field with at least 3 years of hands-on research experience is required; industry experience is preferred.
- Direct hands-on experience in mouse studies, including housing, monitoring, weighing, taking temperature, measuring tumor size using a caliper, blood collection, and i.p., s.c., and i.v. injections, is required; direct experience in xenografted tumor models is a plus.
- Solid general cell biology techniques, including flow cytometry, cell culture, and ELISA, are required.
- Direct experience with immunoassays is a plus, including T cells, NK cells, and PBMC-based assays.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Caring mindset; willing to work in a fast-paced environment with a flexible work schedule.
- Excellent attention to technical details.
Salary/Benefits
Salary range is commensurate with skills and experience, plus competitive fringe benefits and generous stock options. The role includes a 401(k) retirement plan, health care, and dependent care FSA.
Salary : $85,000 - $120,000
