Job Title: Data Entry and Data Migration Specialist
Department: Quality Assurance
Location: Sorrento Valley, San Diego, CA
Reports To: Head of QA
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry and Data Migration Specialist to support the transition from legacy systems to our new software platform. This role will be responsible for accurately entering, cleaning, validating, and migrating data to ensure integrity, consistency, and completeness throughout the migration process. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience working with databases or software systems, preferably within a quality or regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate data entry from legacy systems, spreadsheets, and other sources into the new software system.
Clean and validate existing data to eliminate duplication, errors, or incomplete information.
Support the data migration process, including mapping fields between old and new systems.
Perform quality checks and reconciliation to confirm successful migration and resolve discrepancies.
Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) to verify data accuracy and functionality in the new system.
Document processes, issues, and resolutions to support compliance, audit readiness, and project tracking.
Work closely with QA, IT, project managers, and end-users to ensure a smooth migration process.
Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Proven experience in data entry, data management, or data migration projects.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, databases, and data management tools.
Familiarity with data migration methodologies and software systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
Preferred Skills
Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools or data migration software.
Basic knowledge of SQL or database querying.
Previous experience in system implementation or migration projects.
Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) or similar tools.
Prior experience working within a Quality Assurance team in a regulated environment (e.g., biotech, pharma, or healthcare).
